Jane Wild, Chair of the UNESCO Memory of the World Aotearoa Trust, spoke at the Frank Sargeson Trust celebration in Auckland on 2 February 2025.
The event at the George Fraser Gallery in Albert Park recognised the inscription of the Frank Sargeson Collection at the Alexander Turnbull Library on the New Zealand Register in 2024.
The Memory of the World 2024 inscription events ranged from Dunedin in August, to Wellington and Whanganui. The Frank Sargeson Collection inscription #55 is the most recent inscription on the register.
Jane noted that it was appropriate for the Frank Sargeson Collection to be celebrated in Auckland where the papers were generated. Elizabeth Aitken Rose, Chair of the Frank Sargeson Trust, spoke about the ongoing work of the Trust, supporting New Zealand writers for thirty-nine years, and maintaining Frank’s home in Takapuna.
